Divide GSM by 33.906. For example, 200 GSM ÷ 33.906 ≈ 5.90 oz/yd². To convert back, multiply oz/yd² by 33.906.
Many single-jersey T-shirts fall around 140–200 GSM. Lower weights feel lighter and airier; higher weights feel more premium and structured. Construction and finishing still matter.
Around 300 GSM and above is often considered heavy, but denim, fleece, canvas, and coating fabrics can feel different at the same weight because of construction and loft.
Not by itself. Fabrics with the same weight per area can have different thickness and drape because of density, yarn, and construction. Confirm a swatch before bulk ordering.
